Beaches of the Western Cape

Bloubergstrand

The ideal location for photographing Table Mountain, this beach is located on the opposite side of Table Bay to Cape Town. One of the favorites in summer the beach stretches far up the coast and offers a unique view of Cape Town which is Perfect for sunset walks. A number of restaurants run the along the beach and all give the visitor a night view of Cape Town's lights while enjoying a meal.

Boulders

Named after the many large boulders that line it's coast, this is one of the most popular beaches for the locals. Home to many rock pools and a colony of jackass penguins, the beach is perfect for a bit of exploration in the sun. The only thing missing on this beautiful beach is shops so be prepared to carry what you need onto the beach or walk a long way to a shop.

Camps Bay

Offering a grand view of Table Mountain and dotted with palm trees, Camps Bay offers a unique experience to any beach visiter. The number of shops and restaurants running along the promenade is unlike any other beach in Cape Town offering a level of comfort to any visiter. A popular location for beach sports and barbeques is the grass area running between the road and the beach.

Clifton

Divided into 4 separate beaches, Clifton is by far the most crowded beach in summer pulling locals from all over Cape Town. Secluded from the wind and almost always sunny it offers beach goers perfect conditions for an enjoyable day. The water here is cold so only the brave enter the water, most people will be found just relaxing in the sun.

Llandudno

One of the few quite beaches in the Cape Town area, Llandudno is hidden away and boasts a selection of Fynbos and palm trees. The cold water might not be perfect for swimming but the view of a sunset from the beach is breathtaking on this unspoilt stretch of sand. Anyone seeking peace and tranquility must visit this tiny bay and enjoy a unforgetful sunset before venturing into Hout Bay to enjoy a meal at one of the many harbor based restaurants.

Miller's Point

A series of tiny beaches make up miller's point. Those interested in local wildlife should consider visiting this small beach to view the local Dassies (a local rodent) and some unique lizards. Also host to a some wonderful restaurants and a tidal pool.

Muizenberg

One of the longest beaches in the world, this vast stretch of sand is perfect for novice surfers. The water (Indian Ocean) is a bit warmer than the Atlantic side and offers a better swimming condition than the more popular beaches running along the east coast.
